HEAT SAFETY GUIDELINES
Prioritizing Player Safety in Hot Weather
Mt Diablo Mustang Soccer prioritizes player safety during hot weather. We follow air quality recommendations from the AQMD and may adjust practices or games accordingly.
Hydration is Key
Players should drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, especially before, during, and after practices and games. Avoid sugary drinks and opt for water or sports drinks.
Heat Illness Awareness
Heat illness can occur in hot weather. Be aware of the symptoms of heat cramps, exhaustion, and stroke.
- Heat Cramps: Muscle cramps, thirst, chills.
- Heat Exhaustion: Nausea, fatigue, headache, dizziness.
- Heat Stroke: Hot, dry skin, confusion, rapid pulse, loss of consciousness (Call 911 immediately!)
Cooling Down
If a player shows signs of heat illness, move them to a cool, shaded area. Provide fluids and cool them down with ice packs or wet cloths. Seek medical attention if needed.
Parental Decisions
Ultimately, parents decide if their child participates in hot weather. If you have concerns, let your coach know.
We achieve results through Listening To Parents and players
