CA AB-506 Youth service organizations: child abuse and neglect prevention
Important Information Regarding Background Checks for California Volunteers
Effective January 1, 2022, California law requires a one-time background check for all administrators, employees, and “regular volunteers” who work with children. This check helps ensure the safety of young people by identifying individuals with a history of child abuse.
Who is a Regular Volunteer?
A regular volunteer is someone who has direct contact with children for at least 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year. This includes most coaches, referees, team parents, and board members who spend significant time interacting with children (e.g., 2+ hours weekly on the field).
Streamlined Background Check Process
To make the process easier, we’ve partnered with ApplicantServices.com. The background check involves live scan fingerprinting.
Important Notes:
- This discounted process is negotiated specifically for our organization (AYSO). Use the link below to register and ensure results are sent directly to us from the California Department of Justice.
- Live Scan background checks are not transferable between organizations. You will need to complete this process for each organization you volunteer with that requires it.
- The good news is that this is a one-time requirement.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a safe environment for all children.
We achieve results through Listening To Parents and players
At Mt. Diablo Mustang Soccer, we’re focused on developing soccer players in an inclusive environment. We’ve listened to what both players and parents wish from a competitive soccer club and we’ve developed some core principles
